THE ART PACK MEETS « MÖDERN YOUNG PEOPLE » Post Punk, Cold Wave and Novö Culture in France 1978 -1983 Collective Exhibition's Preview Night at the Galerie du Jour Agnès b. April 3to 2008. PARIS A project envisaged and curated by Jean-François Sanz (head of cultural projects agnès b.) Between the late 70s and mid-80s in France, a prolific and chaotic music scene that combined the energy of rock-n-roll, punk nihilism and electronic experimentation. A kind of hope and frenzied vitality could also be detected during these years. A breed of modernist utopia, which was sometimes wilfully ironic, fed them both. A whole segment of, they were nonetheless resistant to the post-Hippie utopias of the previous generation. In search of an identity, they recognised themselves in the dark lyrics, the cold synthetic music and the laid-back attitude of the new groups hatching all over the country, as much in the provinces as in Paris. With the benefit of thirty years' hindsight, the "Mödern Young People" project reactivates this post-punk/novo diskö/French new ; cold wave scene, through an exhibition, a book, an audio compilation, and a documentary film. One of the project's ambitions is to highlight a cross-section of the specific creative diversity of this scene. It does so by engaging with the music produced by this scene, but also with the aesthetics and the attitudes. Music haired, cheesy costumes, accent dà © concerto and thunderous tracks. Since May 25, lalbum of Naive New Beaters,  "Wallace" is in stores. Finally? 10 titres pour la version normale, 13 pour lédition « delux », les NNBS prononcez « ènènebiz » en bon branché(s)-, arrivent sur le marché officiel après quelques années de tournées remarquées. Et cest tant mieux. Toujours la même electro-pop groovy ; toujours la même énergie aussi salvatrice quabsurde, véritable coup de barre à mine dans le bas ventre de la scène musicale conformiste. Martin Luther BB King, guitariste hippy chic nonchalant, Eurobélix, beatmaker catcheur et David Boring, né dune fusion consanguine entre Eddy Murphy et Axel Rose, entrent dans la cour des grands. On ne peut que remuer la tête devant cet émoi électrique, entre Gorillaz et lAccordéon Magique de Léon Boulac. Nous les avions déjà rencontré, il y a un petit moment, avant leur tournée en compagnie des Kills. Mais comme maintenant ils sont distribués à la Fnac, ils font les gros titres de la presse tendance. Nous sommes donc allés leur demander quelles étaient leurs royalties, en compagnie de Tsugi, bien sur. Alors si tes « wallace », comme disent les jeunes daujourdhui, vas « toper » la nouvelle galette des NNBS chez ton marchand de musique le plus proche et reviens avec Tsugi, pour bien comprendre le son qui sort de ton casque.
