The full trailer for the second season of “Game of Thrones” premiered last night, setting the fandom’s heart (and Twitters and Tumblrs) all a flutter.
The successful HBO fantasy series about warring families doesn’t kick off its second season til April with fans anxiously awaiting the fate of their beloved characters. Doing well as to hint to new characters, the trailer uses key lines and telling scenes to show the direction of this season.
The show has stayed true to the novel series, A Song of Fire And Ice, penned by George R. Martin and the world he created. The second season will follow the second book in the series, A Clash Of Kings, just like the first season followed the first book A Game Of Thrones.
The first season is currently being replayed on HBO with the DVD box set coming out in March 6. Check out the season 2 trailer below.
{WARNING: SPOILERS!!}
A quick recap of the minute long trailer: the trailer starts with a riddle being told to Tyrion Lannister before showing clips of the main characters in their different scenarios. We see Sansa Stark of Winterfell, now completely disillusioned with her betrothed King Joffery and possibly being used more like a prisoner than a guest. Jon Snow is still at the Wall as Part of the Night’s Watch while his brother Robb Stark is still marching to avenge his father and kick the creepy little blonde boy’s butt. And the Lannisters are still creepy as ever.
The more foreboding scenes show Tyrion telling his sister, Cersei Lannister that “it would be hard to rule millions while they all want you dead,” and the scene cuts to the once powerful Queen, being dragged through a very angry mob.
Across the “Narrow Sea,” another Queen is busy kicking butt and taking names. Or so we hope. Daenerys Targaryen is seen still with her Dothraki warriors and is heard using her family’s words: “I am Daenerus Stormborn and I will take what is rightfully mine, with Fire and Blood.” Sadly, no sign of her baby dragons.
Young Arya Stark, who was last seen being smuggled from King’s Landing and disguised as a boy muttering the haunting words “Anybody can be killed.”
Make sure to tune in to HBO on April 1st to watch the season premier.
